The National Palace of Pena, popularly referred to simply as Palácio da Pena or Castelo da Pena, is located in the town of Sintra, parish of Sintra (Santa Maria and São Miguel, São Martinho and São Pedro de Penaferrim), municipality of Sintra, in the district of Lisbon, in Portugal.
It represents one of the main expressions of 19th century architectural Romanticism in the world, becoming the first palace in that style in Portugal.
On July 7, 2007, it was elected as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
The palace is open for tourist visits, in 2013 it had 755,735 visitors, making it the most visited monumental palace in the country that year.
The Pena Palace has been classified as a National Monument since 1910 and was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
Sintra is a Portuguese village in the district and metropolitan area of Lisbon, integrating its northern part (Greater Lisbon).
Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Portugal and continental Europe. It is located in the parish of Colares, in the Municipality of Sintra and District of Lisbon. Its geographic coordinates are N 38º46'51", W 9º30'2".
Cascais is a Portuguese village in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area subregion, belonging to the region with the same name and the district of Lisbon, with 64,310 inhabitants (2021) in its urban perimeter.
