Itinerary and highlights

The tour begins at the Aurea Museum Hotel, where you will access impressive underground remains that reflect the evolution of the city from the Phoenician to the medieval era. Discover a Roman domus from the 2nd - 3rd centuries AD with the only complete mosaic in Lisbon

The tour continues in Casa dos Bicos, an architectural symbol that integrates remains of Roman, Islamic and medieval walls, as well as housing the Jose Saramago Foundation

Continue to Lisbon Cathedral. Explore its Romanesque and Gothic architecture, visit its medieval tombs, the Treasure Museum and enjoy panoramic views from its terrace on the River Tejo

Enter the ancient Felicitas Julia Olisipo by visiting the Roman Theatre and with a panoramic view of the Siege Museum, to get to know and understand Roman life from the 1st century AD in this incredible place created during the Emperor Augustus.

Stroll along the Baixa Pombalina, which is Lisbon’s historic centre and a key reference of modern European urbanism, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake under the direction of the Marquis de Pombal. Its grid design, with wide streets and homogeneous buildings, introduced pioneering anti-seismic engineering solutions known as the “pombalino” system.

Under this urban order, valuable archaeological strata are preserved with remains of Roman, medieval and pre-earthquake period, which evidence the long historical continuity of the center of Lisbon. Today, the Baixa combines architectural heritage, engineering and archaeology into a unique urban ensemble in Europe.

It ends at the Museo Arqueolgico do Carmo, whose Gothic ruins evoke one of the striking moments of the city’s history, surprising with the extensive collections of objects in its 5 thematic rooms
